Nashville, TN Wedding Photographer – Shelly & Kevin 06.08.2012

I first met Shelly last September when she was a bridesmaid in another wedding I photographed..one of the most fun weddings I’ve ever been to or been a part of!  Soon after that, Shelly emailed me and told me that she had gotten engaged, and we sat up a time for engagement photos.   I was so excited because I knew if they were friends with Amy & Judd, that they had to be pretty awesome too!!   At Kevin & Shelly’s engagement session, a plan was laid out to me that included a surprise wedding, and I was sworn to secrecy!  Shelly & I never knew each other prior to this, but of course we have some mutual friends, and I have some clients that know her that I had to make sure I didn’t divulge any info to!  Invitations went out to Shelly & Kevin’s nearest and dearest inviting them to a “Summer Supper” in honor of the soon to be marrieds.  The dinner was to be hosted in the gorgeous backyard of a friend of Shelly’s family.  Little did they know that when they arrived they were actually coming to a wedding!  These two did an amazing job of keeping this under wraps, and I know it had to be hard!!  They didn’t even tell the couple hosting the wedding until a couple of days before!  And to top it off, just a week or so before the wedding, Shelly went on the biggest bachelorette party week I’ve ever seen with 20+ of her friends, and didn’t let it slip then either!

I cannot even imagine hiding their plan from so many people, but I am so thrilled that I got to be a part of this day!!  The atmosphere at their wedding was unlike any other I’ve ever been to!  All of their guests were elated, shocked and just full of joy and laughter once they realized what was going on.  Watching their faces and seeing reactions as they walked up was hilarious!  The vibe of the evening was simple and intimate, and it was so so beautiful!  The flowers by Twiggy and Gus were stunning!  Each arrangement was a little bit different, and all of the containers had been collected by Shelly from family and friends.  Shelly told me that her mom was a miracle worker leading up to the day and took every idea Shelly mentioned and made it come to life adding lots of little details and finishing touches to everything.  Josh from High Tone Entertainment played for hours and set the perfect mood for the night!  While I’m sure some of the guests they invited wouldn’t have missed this if they’d known what was really going down, the ones that made it got a real treat!!  Thank you so much for allowing me to be in on your secret and asking me to capture it as it unfolded!!
