Nashville, TN Newborn Photographer – Baby Will, 8 days old

This past week has been rough around my house!!  Last week, I got hit by the stomach virus that seems to be so far reaching right now, and I was down for the count!  Later that night, my son came down with it, and the next few days were a complete blur.  We both had fevers for what seemed like forever, and I ended up having to reschedule 4 sessions!  This week was supposed to be a fairly laid back one, but due to the schedule shuffling and newborns arriving, it has turned into a very busy one!!  Nevermind that it’s 2 weeks until Christmas, and I’ve only just begun to shop.  This time last year, not a single gift had been purchased, so I figure at least I’m ahead of where I was then!!  Over the weekend, my husband’s grandfather also passed away.  While he has been suffering with dementia for several years, the finality of death is always piercing.  I know he is rejoicing now that he’s reunited with his wife, but here there is still some grieving here by those left behind.  I was asked to put together a small slideshow for his funeral with photos that his family compiled.  While doing so, I was again reminded what an impact this profession can have on others.  Those photos will live on long past his days and they will be the only way my children will remember him (and so many others).  That is huge!!  Do you realize that these images will be looked at for generations to come??  It also reiterated to me how important printing those photos is!!  You have to print them for them to be seen!!  No one scrolls through your computer, but you!  There are many tough days in this job, but I am so thankful for it and for the reminder that I had this week of why it is so so important!  It gives new meaning to every session I do, and today’s was no exception!

This was a milestone session for me because I think this just may be the first family that I’ve photographed both of their new babies within days of their birth!!  Others will be following in their footsteps soon as their are lots of “number 2’s” on the calendar already for 2013!  It’s already shaping up to be an amazing year!!  I first met this family at big sister Madison’s newborn session  early last year.  I have been so blessed to get to capture so many fun moments in her sweet little life, and love that they had me back to photograph their new baby boy as well!!  This momma is also the sister of the groom in my last post, so I’ve seen them even more than normal in the past few months!!  Will was tentatively scheduled to be one of my only sessions over Christmas break, but lucky for me, he arrived a bit early, meaning I get an even bigger break :)!  I can’t tell you how excited I am for some much needed time off with my own babes.  But, this week, I’m loving on lots of others, and Will was officially my last newborn of 2012!  Maddie wasn’t too sure she wanted to take any photos with him today, which is completely typical for her age, but I love the family shots we were able to get.  I hear she’s quite the loving big sister, and I’m certain she’ll help him navigate the ways of the world very soon!!  Thank you guys so much for allowing me to document these precious times for your family!!
